It's never too late to join Boy Scouts!
Come be part of the Adventure!!
If you are a boy age 11-17 or in grades 6 - 12, we invite you to come and visit our meetings or come along with us on one of our activities to see if our Troop is right for you.
What kinds of things will I do at Troop 121?
Our Troop Program is busy and varied. Here are some of the things our scouts participated in over the last 18 months: Hiking, camping, sleeping in homemade shelters, swimming, boating and kayaking, biking the C&O canal, camping at the beach, performing flag ceremonies, sports, woodworking, parades, collecting food for the food pantry, skiing, fire building, fishing, and more!
What does it cost to join Troop 121?
Dues for Troop 121 are $57.00 per year. Dues help pay for registration with the Boy Scouts of America, unit insurance, neckerchief and slide for each scout, and helps to pay for the awards and activities for each boy. To help defray other costs, scouts are expected to participate in our annual fundraising activities, including popcorn sale.
In addition, there are additional costs associated with particular activities, such as food costs for camping trips, admission fees, etc. Costs for uniform items are also the responsibility of the family.
What uniform items will I need?
Troop 121's uniform consists of the tan Official Boy Scout Shirt, red and gold neckerchief, Boy scout slide, Boy scout belt
(The neckerchief and slide are included with your registration fee.) Pants can be the official Boy Scout olive-colored pants, other dark green pants, or jeans. A sash for displaying merit badges is also an option.
A link to order unforms is here Uniform items are also available from the Keystone Area Council's scout shop or at Dunham's sporting goods stores.
How can adults help Troop 121?
Boy Scouts is a "Boy Led" organization, but there are still many Troop positions where adults can serve to help make the troop better for the boys. These include committee positions, merit badge counselors, Scoutmaster assistants, and drivers. Some are year-long positions registered postions and some are one-time parent helper positions. Please see the Committee Chair or the Scoutmaster if you would like to volunteer.
